This is a very interesting photo, you have the 2 beautiful children Paul and Kathy Greenwood who lived on Aster Ct and Channel Ave and in the background is something that I remember but never saw in a photo. If we look at the background of this photo we see Jimmy's Deli on upper right(Jimmy had card games in the back room and just disappeared one day as the story is told). We then see the big buildings across Gerritsen Ave those are the Barracks that were built around 1946 and torn down in 1954. Each Barracks housed 4 families, there was a shortage of housing after WW2 so the Government built this temporary housing for the returning veterans. To the right of those building out of the photo about 1 block down was the small Barracks school which I attended in the 2nd half of the first grade, PS 277 was ready in September 1953. I think this photo was taken around 1952 or 1953.
